[film] The Raid: Redemption
Took maegwynn to see The Raid: Redemption.

Setup: A rookie cop is part of a team attempting to arrest a drug lord from his 30-story tenement castle. They get in, he cuts the power, promises every current resident lifetime residence rent-free if they help rid the building of the unwelcome visitors. Showcasing the martial art of pencak silat, The Raid: Redemption is one of the most brutal martial arts films I have ever seen, making the Ong Bak sequence look mild by comparison.

More of a plot than I expected, honestly. Go for the flying elbow strikes and climbing-the-person-to-deliver-kneestrike-to-the-head-while-they're-still-standing, be mildly pleasantly surprised by the story.

(Now I really want to see the first collaboration of this lead actor and director, a film called Merantau.)

* Chernobyl Diaries - Paranormal Activity horror film director brings this film of stupid Americans touring modern abandoned Chernobyl, being stuck overnight, and hunted by whatever possibly supernatural beings are active there.

* Savages - Director Oliver Stone, looks like he wanted to make Soderbergh's Traffic in the style of The Way of the Gun. Interestingly all three films appear to case Benecio del Toro. Summer release.

* Prometheus - Ridley Scott's prequel to Alien.

* The Bourne Legacy - There was never just one Jason Bourne. New film in the franchise stars Jeremy Renner. Definitely seeing this.

Trailer for The Raid: Redemption, which is representative of the film, .
