Changed the background desktop on my primary laptop Wednesday morning: I don't do this often. The previous image lasted almost six months and the one before that lasted over two years. The interesting thing about it was later in the day how odd and disorienting change of view was to me: it's as though I've moved residences and am looking through a different window.

I found it odd as it was an unexpected reaction.

It *is* pretty disconcerting

Nice I'm not weird in *this* sense, at least :). I'm considering working with this disorientation: my laptop OS has a "random desktop image from a folder" setting that I'm considering using. Max is daily, minimum is one minute. I'm thinking daily is a good start.

I'm now on my third laptop and 6th? year with the same desktop background. It's hard to imagine changing it, even though I only see it briefly on reboots before it's completely covered by windows.
