Friday night we went to see the NC Opera
production of the 1954 opera adaptation of the Henry James 1898 ghost story The Turn of the Screw
at the Carolina Theatre
. The production was great: Fletcher Hall has wonderful acoustics, the music and direction was excellent, the stage design and lighting were impressive (my friend Jerry of Burning Coal was the stage director for this production), and in all it was a solid show.
Unfortunately M was feeling off during the show and we left at intermission, but the first act was nice. (She's fine now this morning.) Here's a review
of the full performance from Thursday, and I'll look forward to their production of Philip Glass' The Fall of the House of Usher
