The Screwtape Letters
Saw a stage adaptation of CS Lewis' The Screwtape Letters this afternoon at DPAC. A two-man show of Screwtape and his secretary devil Toadpipe, no one else ever appears on stage. Screwtape has all the dialogue but Toadpipe has a significant amount of growling and other vocalizing. Nice lighting, good set design, and some interesting sound design.

I'd forgotten that was coming through! That's one of Tim's favorite books. Thanks for the reminder!

They did two shows today at 4pm and 8pm and left. Sorry you missed it.

Actually, given the lead does a sort of Falstaff-like avuncular devil by way of Alan Rickman, I think you would have loved his performance.

Oooh- that would have been good, methinks.

I wish we had jumped on it when they came through Raleigh in 2010, but I think the boys had just gotten out of the NICU at that point. Maybe they'll sell a CD version of it.

I have it on tape read by John Cleese somewhere. Gotta dig that one up. Then find a tape player...
