omg it's almost halloween: pumpkapocalypse 2008
(NOT using this photo for MOO biz/contact cards anytime soon)
We will be carving pumpkins this afternoon as warmup for next Sunday's official Pumpkapocalypse 2008. 2pm, early is perfectly fine, RSVP by comment or other communication media if you're coming either today or next Sunday. Bring pumpkins, we have plenty of utensils. Extra newspaper would not go amiss. The weather is lovely and the deck is large. If directions are needed, ask. Come one come all to Carniv...err, Pumpkapocalypse.

Also the theremin will be available for weird noises. Halloween costume prep is ongoing: in my case I want to find a latex or plastic apron/smock thing, gloves, and a Shure Model 55 microphone - but apparently no one I know has a 55 around for me to borrow. Considering ebay.

UPDATE: Canceled for today due to lack of crash helmets: the oak trees are dropping simply ridiculous numbers of acorns onto the deck today. Acornfall predicted to subside by mid-week and we look forward to slicing and dicing giant orange round objects on Sunday October 12. Afternoon/evening is now converted to usual music&crafts work with either DVR-clearing or a movie or both in the evening. Ping and join us.
(More soberly: today's announcement was minimal notice and most people I predict read this journal already have plans for Sunday afternoon by lunchtime Sunday. Plus, at least one pumpkin design I came up with I currently lack the spare parts for so this gives me the week to go get the parts.
In case of rain, acornfall, or brimstone raining from the skies on the 12th, we will move inside as the great room has plenty of space. The show must go on.)
